Resumen: |
A five-ton idol, Coatlicue, Aztec Mother of the Gods, was first discovered in 1790 but it was not until the twentieth century that the hypnotic power of Coatlicue was fully understood. The psycological interpretation of the Aztec Mother Goddess was worked out by Leo Katz. The object of this paper is to bring to light some of the innovative ideas of Leo Katz and his introduction of a modern psychological interpretation of Pre-Columbian mythology as demonstrated in his writings on Coatlicue.
