En: CARIBBEAN JOURNAL OF SCIENCE, 32 (1) Apr. 1996: 78-82. bibl. il.
Revista: Caribbean journal of science, vol. 32, núm. 1; Apr. 1996
Resumen: The first fossil echinoid described from the Lower Oligocene of Jamaica is referred to Gagaria? sp. The only known specimen is from the Walderston Formation, deposited in a low energy, lagoonal paleoenvironment. Gagaria? sp. has crenulate, imperforate, primary tubercles, and trigeminate ambulacral plates with acrosaleniid compounding.
Resumen: The Jamaican species is not conspecific with any coeval Gagaria species from the southeastern U.S.A., nor with Thylechinus sp. from the Lower Oligocene San Sebastian Formation of Puerto Rico. It was found associated with an indeterminate of clypeasteroid.
